Invitation
Dear Colleague,
The idea of the seminar refers to the Summer Solstice Conference which was established in 2009 by a group of researchers interested in small meetings where they can exchange ideas about complex systems in a unique atmosphere of the summer solstice (see the website of Anna T. Lawniczak for more information about history of the conference).
Three years have passed since our last meeting in Dresden in 2019. Just a few weeks ago, the special issue in Physica D "Discrete Models of Complex Systems: recent trends and analytical challenges" was finalized. This issue collects the scientific achievements of the Dresden conference participants. Congratulations to all Authors.
However, pandemic restrictions have blocked our personal contacts for last years.
Location
Taking the opportunity that two organizers of previous editions of Summer Solstice Nazim Fates (Nancy) and Franco Bagnoli (Florence) are coming to the University of Gdańsk, we are happy to inform and encourage you to arrive to Gdańsk as well, to take part in the Summer Solstice Seminar. The event is planned for May 28th, and will take place in the Institute of Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics (Wita Stwosza 57), room 361.
Contributed talks
Every participant is invited to give a twenty minutes talk- an informal report about latest investigations or open questions/problem considered. Students and young scientists are welcome to present a 15-minute presentation of their results.
We are waiting till 21st May for your registration including a title of your talk/presentation.
No fee - Sponsors
There is no seminar fee. The event is sponsored by the Dean of Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics of Gdańsk University, Jit Team and City of Gdańsk.
Accommodation
For the few participants (the order of registration decides) accommodation in the Brigida’s house (http://brygidki.pl/dom-gosci.html) will be paid for by the Institute of Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics.
The event is organized spontaneously and therefore we apologize for any possible awkwardness. We hope this letter will refresh your memories of former Summer Solstice conferences and encourage you to participate actively in this year Summer Solstice Seminar. Please, disseminate the information to anybody interested in the event.
In case of any questions do not hesitate to write to anybody of the organizers.
All the best,
Danuta Makowiec
